Cape Town, Johannesburg |
GlobalTribe, in association with AFXB, will link young people in
three countries through its first international videoconference on World AIDS/HIV Orphans Day, .
The videoconference will mark the beginning of a yearlong campaign designed to
mobilize young people to work together across borders to combat AIDS/HIV using the Internet and new
technologies as their platform.
Prior to the videoconference, each location will screen the film Beat the Drum (Director: David
Hickson, S.A.), winner of more than 15 awards from international film festivals, and the documentary by
GlobalVision, NKOSI: A VOICE OF AFRICA'S AIDS ORPHANS (Director: Danny Schechter), slated for
broadcast simultaneously by MNET in South Africa and 41 other countries in Africa on June 14th.
Participating youth will learn about children living with AIDS/HIV through the two films and curriculum
developed by GlobalTribe. This marks the first collaboration between GlobalTribe and AFXB, a Swiss-based organization that works with AIDS/HIV in 17 countries, including South Africa, currently home to
